Welcome Home Pearl & Jovie

Updated: Jul 5, 2021

Fall 2018 we adopted two Fallow deer. Pearl and Jovie are mother and daughter and we were able to keep them together.

Fallow deer, (Dama dama), medium-sized deer of the family Cervidae (order Artiodactyla) that is frequently kept on estates, in parks, and in zoos. The common fallow deer (Dama dama dama) is native to the eastern Mediterranean; a second, larger, more brightly coloured, short-antlered form, the Mesopotamian fallow deer (D. dama mesopotamica), is native to Iran. The common fallow deer has been introduced in many areas ever since the Neolithic Period (New Stone Age), and it now occurs wild in Europe and elsewhere and in captivity on deer farms around the world. Since childhood I always wanted reindeer but they were just too hard to get due to permits and other complications. After doing some research I decided the white Fallow deer were just as magical if not more then reindeer.

Pearl and Jovie have brought so much joy to my life. They have been the best therapy, they love it when I sit with them and give them treats such as teddy grahams and grapes. They are not of me talking! HaHa they just want piece and quiet. They enjoy fresh cut trees and certain weeds and grasses.

Life is sweeter with these fur babies!
